MISS JULIE MAE

Miss Julie Mae began dancing at age 4 and grew up taking classes in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. After taking a year off of dance at the age of 11, she realized her true passion was hip hop.  She poured her heart into hip hop dance and through the years, she won various special and overall awards at both Canadian and American competitions.
Miss Julie Mae has retired from competitive dancing but is still very active in the dance community. She is a part of The ARTillery, a local dance crew that placed 3rd in The 2016 Beatdown Hip Hop Competition. 
After substituting some hip hop classes, Miss Julie Mae was asked to take over the Impulse hip hop program in 2015. She has fallen in love with the Impulse dance family and she finds that teaching motivates and increases her love for dance. Miss Julie Mae wishes to inspire her students and continue to grow as a choreographer.

MISS TAYLOR,  DMA Acro , NCCP Gymnastics

Miss Taylor is a recent Graduate of George Brown's Dance Performance program. She has an extensive background in competitive and performance dance training in all styles including ballet, acrobatics, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hiphop.  She has been awarded numerous scholarships throughout her competitive dance career to train and perform in Toronto and Los Angeles; further, she received a dance bursary towards post secondary training. She has had many amazing opportunities to train with professional schools such as Canada’s National Ballet and George Brown College, Ballet Jorgen and has also worked with award winning choreographers inside and outside of school.

Miss Taylor continues to develop her dance training through professional workshops, seminars and classes. She currently holds her NCCP Gymnastics Certification, Acrobatic Dance Masters of America Certification and is excited to continue to learn and grow as a teacher and educator at Impulse!

MISS KATELYN

Miss Katelyn began dancing at 4 years old and throughout her life, she has been passionate about dance. She fell in love with tap early on, but soon discovered a love for lyrical/contemporary, jazz, ballet and hip hop. She has been an assistant dance teacher since she was 11 years old  and became a full  Impulse teacher 4 years ago.
Miss Katelyn has exam training in ballet, tap and jazz under the PAEC syllabus. She was a senior member of the Impulse competitive team and received many overall highest marks. Miss Katelyn loved  performing and the challenges of being a competitive dancer,  and now shares her experience as a competitive choreographer.  Miss Katelyn has studied various musical instruments such as the piano, flute and alto saxophone; her passion for the arts is obvious.
Miss Katelyn is currently studying Nursing at McMaster University. She is a wonderful member of Impulse's teaching staff and we look forward to see her students continue to grow as dancers!


MISS MEGAN

Miss Megan started her dance career at the age of three. She is trained in several styles of dance (including tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, song and dance, and musical theatre) and successfully completed her Russian Ballet schooling by the age of 16. As a competitive dancer, Miss Megan has won various awards and scholarships over the years, and had the incredible opportunity to participate in an intensive workshop taught by the Tap Dogs.
Aside from dance, Miss Megan has been trained to play numerous instruments (some including piano and guitar) and has competed throughout Canada and the United States in various orchestra and vocal competitions. Additionally ,Miss Megan has had singing and acting training and has been in several plays put on by Theatre Aquarius and her high school.
Miss Megan began her teaching career through assisting her own teachers when she was 14 and was choreographing by the age of 16. She loves to share her talents with people of all ages; whether its baby dance or adult classes, and never starts the day without a dance in her step and a song in her heart.

ELIZABETH PIESZ-EVANS, RAD RTS, Acrobatic Arts

Studio Director


Elizabeth has been dancing since the age of 3 and has intensive training in Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz and Modern. For three years she competed across Canada and the United States with her studio's dance team. Elizabeth has received numerous awards for her achievements as a dancer and has been able to work with renowned teachers and choreographers like Chun Che, Stephen Findlay, Siona Jackson, Kathleen Rea and Annie Wood.
Elizabeth is a graduate of the George Brown College Performance Studies Program run by Ballet Jorgen and she holds her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). After graduating from college, Elizabeth  performed in Spain and Greece with the "Dance Dance Canada Show Team", teaching dance at community centers. She then served as Artistic Director of Ballet and Lyrical at  Minto Dance Academy for 3 years.
In  2010, she came aboard as Studio Director for Impulse Performance Arts! Her creativity and passion for the arts is demonstrated through her work and love of dance.Her choreography has won awards and high marks throughout the years. Elizabeth hopes to inspire young dancers to achieve their best and  to pass on her love for dance.

LINDSAY JENKINS, HBSc.Kinesiology

Studio Director


Lindsay began her dance training at 4 years old, and she couldn't imagine a life without dancing!  She started with ballet, but quickly expanded her training to include jazz, modern, lyrical, musical theatre, song & dance, and pointe.  She received her early training at Newmarket School of Dance and Theatre Arts and later at A.M. Dance Force. Lindsay also studied piano under the Royal Conservatory of Music and was a cheerleader for her highschool cheer team; serving as Captain for her senior year.
Lindsay successfully passed numerous ballet and jazz examinations under the C.D.T.A syllabus (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) and with the P.A.E.C (Performing Arts Educator of Canada).  As a member of her dance studio's competitive team, she was blessed with opportunities to compete across Ontario and the United States.  As competitive dance teacher, her choreography has won awards and high marks at various competitions.
After teaching for Seneca College's Nursing Program for 5 years, Lindsay decided to pursue her true passion and opened Impulse Performance Arts Inc in 2010. Her educational background in anatomy, physiology, sports exercise and biology help her to provide a safe and effective learning environment for all Impulse dancers. As Studio Director, she hopes to share her knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with aspiring dancers and performers!
