Ballet – A beautiful
and expressive art form that focuses on developing strong dance technique. Ballet training creates well-rounded
dancers with immense strength and flexibility, graceful poise and control, improved body alignment and confidence in movement.
In ballet class, students complete exercises at the barre, in the centre and across the floor (including leaps and
turns!) All competitive dancers are required to take ballet.

Pointe – Ballet on the “tip of the toes” is an important part
of classical ballet training. The dancer must have sufficient ballet training in order to develop the strength
and technique required to dance en pointe. Typically dancers may go en pointe at approx. age 12 years.
Faculty approval must be obtained to register for this class.

Jazz – A popular, fun
and energetic dance form that encourages dancers to find their unique dance style while building strong technique and endurance!
In this class, dancers learn to move their bodies to music with isolations, jumps and turns. Jazz class
starts with a safe warm-up to increase flexibility and moves to exercises in the centre and across the floor to improve agility
and coordination.

Tap
– Learn to create music with your feet! Tap dance creates dancers with impeccable rhythm, musicality
and style. Classes will explore classical, “Broadway” and modern, funky styles of tap dance.
Tap dancers are able to make so many sounds and beats with their feet, that they can make their own music!

Contemporary/Lyrical
– This dance form combines technique from ballet and jazz to create movements that portray intense
emotion. Dancers learn to “feel” the music; moreover, they are inspired by words and rhythms
to connect emotionally with their movement. Dancers may begin this form of training at age 10.

Hip
Hop – The dance style that has taken the dance world by storm! This fun, energetic
class will improve endurance, style and confidence. Hip hop class will explore funky techniques like “free-styling”,
“breaking”, “locking” and “popping”. This class uses current and popular music to keep
dancers up with the newest and hottest choreography!

Acro
– This class combines classical dance technique with gymnastics to create a unique form of dance acrobatics.
Dancers develop tremendous flexibility, strength and athleticism. Classes always start with a warm-up
and provide a safe environment to learn and practice acrobatic elements. Dancers will learn choreography
that puts beautiful acrobatic skills to music.

Pre-Dance
– This level of dance caters towards children ages 2.5 to 4 years. Children learn the basics of tap,
jazz, ballet or creative movement in a fun, energetic and safe environment. The aim of these classes is
to improve balance and coordination, to increase self-confidence and socialization, and to instil a love of fitness and dance!
